Sands Impact Report 2024/25

Sands is the UK's leading pregnancy and baby loss charity, working to save babies' lives, support bereaved families and ensure the best possible care for everyone affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby. In 2024/25, 600,000 people accessed Sands' support and advice, 650,000 campaigning actions were taken, and 242 research studies were supported. A historic milestone was reached: 100% of hospital trusts in England and 100% of hospital boards in Scotland are now on the National Bereavement Care Pathway. 7,000 training opportunities were delivered to professionals, and 600,000 employees were reached through workplace resources. The charity's volunteer community delivered 6,200 support services, 46 Starlight Walks, and 116 dedicated sessions for specific groups including men, African and Caribbean parents, South Asian parents and Armed Forces families. The first Amplifying Parent Voices event was held for communities facing the highest rates of baby death.
